Our Top Picks_
Kalogria (9 mins – 6.1km)
The most beautiful beach of the Mani peninsula, where Kazantzakis and Zorbas spent their days. It is a sandy beach with thick sand and shallow, turquoise and especially clear waters thanks to the Taygetos natural springs flowing into the water. It is organised, surrounded by beach bars and restaurants, quite popular, and a perfect place for those who love water sports.
Stoupa (10 mins – 6.1km)
The long sandy beach of Stoupa is the most tourist-loved beach of West Mani. Equally beautiful and very clean, since underground streams flow in it from Taygetos. Organised, with crystal clear waters, water sports and plenty of options for coffee or lunch.
Phonea (13 mins – 8.1km)
Most iconic beach in the area. Turquoise waters with white pebbles, offer plenty of shade under its rocks. Visitors will find it after a short hike on a dirt road that leads to the beach. Beware of swimming when western winds blow in the area.
Delfinia (13 mins – 7.7km)
A quiet, non-organised sandy / pebble beach located halfway between Stoupa & Kardamili with dirt-road access. Ideal for families & couples that wish to escape the crowds.
Kalamitsi (18 mins – 11km)
In the small picturesque beach of Kalamitsi in front of the house of Patrick Leigh Fermor, visitors will enjoy the transparent velvety blue / emerald waters of Western Mani under the shade of tall cypress trees. The sandy / pebble beach is quiet and non-organized, ideal for children as its waters are shallow even at a considerable distance from the mainland.
Kardamyli (Ritsa) (21 mins – 13km)
A mix of pebble and sand with clear turquoise waters and an impressive view of the Taygetus mountain range to the rear of the village while swimming.
Pantazi (14mins – 9.4 km)
Malsova or Pantazi beach as it is better known, is located 2 km from the village of Agios Nikolas. Sandy / pebbled beach, not as busy as the rest and with less cold waters. With its tamarisk trees offering coolness to its visitors, it is the favourite of the locals.
Katafygio (18 mins – 11km)
A unique landscape which is a definite must-see. Its stones have been carved over the centuries by stormy waves. It has been a nudist paradise for years, however, visitors are welcome to swim in their swimsuit if they wish so. Accessible after a 5-minute hike from the main road with proper shoes.
